Protocol of 1992 to Amend the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, 1969

Objectives:

To extend the application of the 1969 Liability Convention to include the exclusive economic zone of a Contracting State established in accordance with international law.

Summary of Provisions:

• To extend the scope of the liability for pollution damage
  
• To change the unit of account from the franc to Special Drawing Rights as defined by the International Monetary Fund.
