Protocol of 1978 Relating to the International Convention
for the Prevention of Pollution from ships, 1973
Summary of Provisions:
- The 1978 Protocol modifies various provisions of the 1973
London Convention, and in particular of its annex I and
also postpones the entry into force of annex II of the Convention
for a period of at least three years.
- To give effect to the provisions of the Protocol and its
Annex, and the International Convention for the Prevention
of Pollution from ships, 1973, subject to the modifications
and additions set out in the Protocol. The provisions of
the Convention and the Protocol to be read and interpreted
together as one single instrument.
