Objectives:

To protect birds in the wild state

Summary of Provisions:

  • Protection during breeding season to all birds
  • To migrants during their flight to breeding grounds
  • To endangered species throughout the year
  • Prohibit taking eggs and young birds
  • A species found to be a pest in a region may be excepted from protection
  • Exception may be made in the interest of science and education
  • Parties to establish reserves for breeding birds
