Fascinating Six Days of Bird Watching in Bahrain

Since early times, Bahrain islands have been known for their natural beauty and heritage. Despite the small size of these islands, they do carry a lot of attractions for all nature lovers and Wildlife adventurers.

The variation of natural habitats on the islands is reflected by the high diversity of avifauna where more than 300 different species of birds have been recorded. Habitats include open desert, coastal wetlands, fresh water streams, plantation areas and small islets. Breeding species includes the white-cheeked bulbul, Socotra Cormorant, Sooty Falcon, Reef Heron, Black-winged Stilt, Crested Lark and white-cheeked Tern. The Grey Hypocolius, Great Black headed Gull, Lesser and Greater Sand Plovers are few examples of the regular migrants to Bahrain.

The small size of Bahrain makes bird watching activity enjoyable due to the easy access and travel from one place to another within very short time, which allow enthusiast birdwatchers to cover much larger area and observe more species.

AlReem Environmental Consultation and Ecotourism is running various wildlife tours and packages for the last few years. This environmental body is headed by local ecologist and ornithologist who spent more than 15 years in fieldwork and surveys.
