Preserve the wetland to secure the habitat for the fauna
at a critical stage of their life cycle.

Geographical aspects:
A sandy sabkhah on the Doha Peninsula, in the northwest
is flooded by exceptionally high tides, associated inter-tidal
mudflats are considered as part of the site. The habitat
in the Nature Reserve was seriously affected during
the Gulf war by military activities.
Flora:
Salt-tolerant vegetation.
Fauna:
About 70 species of birds have been recorded. A secure
roosting site for thousands of shorebirds and other
waterfowl which feed on the adjacent mudflats at low
tide. It regularly supports 20,000 waterfowl.13 species
of crabs and 3 species of mudskippers.
